Playing Music and Hanging Out with Kindergartners
In a world dominated by screens, beeps, and endless notifications, nothing can be more refreshing than the pure, unadulterated joy of playing music and spending time with kids. I recently had the opportunity to experience this firsthand, and I’d love to share the magic of it with you.
Dancing to the Beat of Kindergarten
At the back-to-school BBQ for KCC and Quashnet schools, the air was thick with excitement and humidity. Kids with twinkling eyes and giggles that could melt all hearts were everywhere. As the music started, their energy was palpable, with tiny feet tapping and little hands clapping in rhythm.
There’s something about kindergartners that brings out the inner child in all of us. Their enthusiasm is contagious, their innocence a breath of fresh air. Every song and every dance move is a journey of discovery for them, and being a part of that journey is truly a privilege.
Games, Giggles, and Gentle Mishaps
Of course, with energetic kiddos, unexpected moments are bound to happen. My laptop experienced one such moment, becoming the target of a playful toss, much like the unfortunate kid in a dodgeball game who can’t seem to catch. But, much like that child who gets up, dusts off, and dives back into the game with even more determination, we, too, bounced back. Electronics can be replaced or fixed, but those moments of pure fun and laughter are priceless.
Real Family Time
During all the dancing and games, a moment stood out to me the most: the genuine family time. Parents, grandparents, siblings, and extended family came together to celebrate the beginning of a new school year. There were no phones or tablets in sight. Just genuine conversations, laughter and the shared joy of seeing our young ones embark on a new chapter of their learning journey.
The Essence of Music and Kindergartners
As the evening winded down and the sunset, I was left with a heart full of gratitude. The joys of playing music and being in the company of kindergartners are unmatched. It’s a reminder of simpler times, of the beauty of being present, and of the magic that happens when we allow ourselves to be in the moment.
So, the next time you get to play some tunes for little ones or hang out with them, grab it with both hands. You’ll be reminded of the sheer joy of living in the moment, the beauty of pure laughter, and the simple pleasures life offers. And trust me, it’s an experience that will stay with you long after the music has stopped playing.
